Summer 2021 Favorites

Wow, it has been so long since I did an updated favorites post. I think the last one of these I made was in 2018. It's safe to say my favorites have changed since then! I'm going to list off what products I currently use everyday in the order of which I use them.

Primer:

Elf: Jelly Pop

Rare Beauty: Pore Diffusing

I don't have a primer that I absolutely love. It's one of things that no matter which one I use, they all kind of look and feel the same to me. However, I do use these two (not together). I'll be honest, I'm not sure if they do much besides control some of the oil in my skin throughout the day, which is nice, but other products I use also contribute to that. So, does it make an impact? Maybe..? It for sure is not a necessary step if it already is not in your day to day routine. A good skin care routine can most definitely replace the need for a primer.

Foundation:

Clinique: Even Better

NARS: Soft Matte

I love to use 2 different types of foundation when I do my makeup. One foundation just doesn't do it all for me! The Clinique foundation has such a beautiful finish, but sometimes I need a little more coverage which is where the NARS foundation comes into play. This combo has my skin always looking *chefs kiss*! If you are ever finding yourself not loving everything about a particular foundation, try using 2 foundations to get your desired result, or even color.

Concealer:

Huda Beauty: Overachiever

If you're tired and have bad bags, nope you aren't and you don't. This concealer is like spackle for the face. I have really dark blue/green discoloration on the inner corners of my eyes by the bridge of my nose, with this concealer I don't anymore! I have used so many concealers and I have never found one I was completely satisfied with- until this one. It covers what I need it to without making me look like I actually did use spackle on my face. It is pricey though, however the tip of it is metal and cooling when you put it on. Not that justifies the price but, I think its luxurious so... maybe it justifies it a little bit?

Contour:

Fenty Beauty: Match Stix

I have been obsessed with the Fenty Beauty Match Stix in Amber for a few years now. It is by far the best cream contour I have ever used. I use it to contour my cheeks, nose, chin, boobs- you name it, this thing can contour it! It is so blendable and truly makes me go from having a round face to having a more chiseled/defined bone structure. I can't change my bones and I love carbs too much to lose weight so... Contour stick it is!

Setting Powder:

Too Faced: Peach Perfect

MAC: Studio Fix

Ah, the Too Faced Perfect Peach powder. I feel like I have consumed this powder just as much as its been on my face. Both accidentally and maybe not so much of an accident... Hey, don't judge! This powder tastes SO good, for no reason! Besides that, it is one of my favorites to set my face with. Not only is it super mattifying, but it also gives that last bit of coverage to areas on your face. The classic MAC studio fix powder is my go to for around my nose. I get super oily there throughout the day, so it is important for me to have a powder that won't break down easily so that my foundation doesn't breakup around my nose.

Bronzer:

Jaclyn Cosmetics: Bronze and Blushing Duo

DIOR: Backstage Contour Palette

We all saw it coming, a Jaclyn Hill product. Would it really be a favorites list if it didn't include my girl Jaclyn?! No, it wouldn't. These blush and bronzer duo's are where it's at. I have the lightest shade because I am the color of paper- so usually bronzers look orange on me, but not this one! I love thing thing, so much that I am almost out of the bronzer. I'm not much of a blush girl but it's nice too if blush is more of your jam. After I bronze up my pasty face so I don't look like a corpse- I go in with the Dior backstage contour palette and just chisel up my cheek bones. This isn't 100% necessary but I like it.

Brows

Urban Decay: Brow Blade

If you take anything away from this thread, take this. I literally cannot do my makeup without this product. My eyebrows have NEVER looked better. The felt tip ink stain draws in the brow hairs that I don't grow from a scar in my brow and also over plucking. Look, the early 2000s were not a great time for brows, alright? The pencil side is great for adding more dimension to create a darker bolder look. You can do a natural fluffy brow or a sculpted bold brow, all with one tool! I love this thing, I may even be obsessed.

Eyeliner:

Clinique: Pretty Easy Eyeliner Pen

Anastasia Beverly Hills: Liquid Liner

I have tried so, so, SO many eyeliners and I always find myself buying a new one each time I run out because I just knew I could find something better. Well, here it is- something better. I have repurchased these a few times because I am convinced this is the best duo for winged eyeliner. I use the Clinique brush tip liner to sketch out my wing and get those sharp lines. Then I go in with the ABH liquid liner to fill in the wing. The Anastasia eyeliner is so pigmented and matte, which is important to me because I think eyeliner that leaves a shine makes your eyelid look sweaty. Who wants sweaty eyelids? Not me.

Setting Spray:

Charlotte Tilbury: Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

Charlotte isn't lying on the bottle here- you can party all night and stay all day with this setting spray. I don't know what is in this magical bottle but I will not be purchasing another setting spray. For some context, I went to DC one night- full face of snatched makeup. I slept at my friends house because I had one too many drinks to feel comfortable driving home (always drink responsibly!), but when I woke up in the morning, my makeup was still looking good. It did not look like I went dancing for 5 hours in a hoard of sweaty people, and that is exactly the kind of results I am looking for from a setting spray. Especially one at this cost.

Final Thoughts:

Well I hope you all enjoyed my updated current favorites and now feel compelled to buy the Urban Decay Brow Blade. Drop a comment below telling me your current favorites, or what you are now going to buy from this list!
